Introduced in 2015
Shortlisted nominees:
Megan Bye (Plymouth)
- Megan has been pivotal in getting women's football off the ground in HMLR and for LR Leisure.
- It started with encouraging women in her local office to try football after being inspired by the lionesses. This led to a large number of women training week in week out and taking part in a local 5-a-side league.
- LR Leisure entered the CSSC ladies football competition last November and ended up with two teams such was Megan's influence and instilling belief in HMLR's women that this would be fun, and they would be great.
- She finally took over as the national organiser for women's football at the beginning of the year and the first ever Kerr Cup took place with 4 teams entering.
- The feedback from all the women (and some volunteers) has been incredible. The atmosphere was electric and women who had never kicked a ball before were welcomed such was the inclusive approach taken. She's already plotting how to make it bigger and better in the future.
Samantha Lewis (Swansea):
- Sam has been great helping with Festival this year.
- She's been really proactive in assisting and volunteering to take on anything.
- She's been a great sounding board and without her it would've been a much more stressful experience. Her enthusiasm to the event has been great and I appreciate all her commitment.
Tara Sleath (Peterborough):
- In the short time Tara has been on the local committee at Peterborough, she has shown a real positive enthusiasm for organising events.
- Not only has she participated in attending the LR Leisure Awards in November 2023, but through her enthusiasm managed to encourage a full table of new recruits to attend the Awards. This saw around a 60% increase in the number PB members attending the event.
- She has since then assisted the local office organiser for the LR Challenge in encouraging members to attend the event in Nottingham (as well as taking part).
- She has volunteered to be the local office organiser for the LR Festival, where she will be taking around 12-15 people from PB all of whom are taking part in the Thursday night fancy dress event.
- In her relatively short-time on the local committee it is clear she has a good sense of organisational flair and is fast becoming a good asset to LR Leisure.
