- Enabling members to participate in national competitions, either Land Registry or Civil Service
Introduced in 1996
John Manthorpe worked in the Land Registry for almost 55 years from Sept 1952 until March 2007.
He served as Chief Executive for 10 years following 5 years as Chief Land Registrar.
John is still regarded and revered as one of the best and regularly attends the Life Members lunch. John was a keen sportsman and supported everything Sports & Social organised.
When he retired he wanted to be remembered for acknowledging everything that Sports & Social brought to the department and so introduced this trophy that he awarded to his great friend and Secretary at the time Mike Crawshaw.
To this day Mike likes to be told who has been awarded the trophy which serves as a Who's Who of Sports & Social(LR Leisure) and sends a personal message to the recipient.
